get to know me a little

before I permanently alter your skin

Basic info:

Hi, my name is Rayla (she/they). I mostly grew up in the greater Seattle area, and like most people who choose to live here, have a deep love for the pacific northwest and our local flora and fauna. I feel like I have been on a winding road that has always been leading towards my career in tattooing, even when the destination wasn’t clear. I am queer, an extrovert, a zillennial, a hedonist, a rock climber and an avid reader (among many other things). When not working or making art, I spend my time with my partner, with our friends, and frolicking about in the world.

But what about tattooing though?

I am a community/self-taught tattoo artist in my “apprenticeship” era. What this means is I am still super new to tattooing! While I have taken classroom style coursework and seen models both with mentors present and on my own - I would describe myself as learning on the go, and that means my tattoos are learning pieces. My pricing reflects this at the moment and I am honored by every single person willing to share their skin with me.

All that being said, I have taken the utmost care to understand sanitation and safety, and am fully licensed and insured. Before receiving a tattoo from me, please check out my portfolio and understand that I am learning and growing with every piece I do. If you are not comfortable with that, no worries, hopefully you will consider working with me down the line when I have more experience under my belt.

My tattoo philosophy

I strongly encourage you to choose a tattoo artist who you feel completely comfortable with. If any of the information I've mentioned raises concerns for you, it's possible that we may not be the best fit. Tattooing is an incredibly personal experience; not only do we spend a significant amount of time together, but I also leave a permanent mark on your skin.

The act of sharing my art with others fills me with immense happiness. My ultimate goal is to help you feel more self-assured and joyful in your own skin. I firmly believe that artwork possesses an incredible power. It enables us to connect with specific moments in time, the people who have shaped our lives, and the narratives we are holding on to or are ready to release.

Tattoos have served as a means for me to ground myself in curiosity, consent, and self-awareness throughout my life. Being able to share this tool with others brings me immeasurable joy and fulfillment and I am honored that you are thinking of working with me!
